When four friends in their 20s set off on a three-month, non-profit marathon across Canada to commit as many random acts of kindness as they could, they had no idea what they were starting.
Seven years later the "Kindness Crew" are still making an impression, teaming up with coffee giant, Maxwell House, to launch a campaign that encourages the public to "brew some good."
Maxwell House has since taken the lead by committing to use the majority of its marketing budget towards charity rather than producing expensive ads. It's also encouraged the public to nominate worthy individuals and organizations to receive donations from Maxwell House so they can keep up their good deeds.
In the spirit of the campaign, GSA wants to hear what random acts of kindness have been done for or by you! It could be something as simple as a stranger buying a coffee for you in line. Whatever it is, tell us your story and how the kind act impacted you, and we'll post it on our website. The best stories will win an e-book copy of the kindness crew's book, Cool to be Kind: Random Acts and How to Commit Them.
ARTICLE UPDATE:
Last month we were inspired by Maxwell House's new campaign to encourage individuals to "brew some good," a movement inspired by the "Kindness Crew". We asked you to send us your stories of kind, random acts that have been done to you. Here's what some of you had to say:
"This morning the coffee shop I go to on a regular basis "paid" for my coffee -- a nice treat to start the day!"
"The other day a man leaving a parking lot pulled along side me as I was entering and gave me his parking ticket that still had over an hour on it, so I parked for free!"
"I was on the bus the other day and a woman boarded who had a transfer that was not accepted by the bus driver (it was outdated, I guess). Another woman seated nearby got up and offered her a ticket for free. So nice! Everyone smiled and told her how nice that was."
