Summary Profile

In 2006, Colin Angus became the first person to travel around the world (land and ocean) entirely by human power. On May 20th, 2006, after 720 days, Colin Angus and Julie Wafaei arrived in Vancouver and completed the expedition - undoubtedly the world's most grueling race.

He has travelled 43,000 km by rowboat, bicycle, canoe, ski, and foot. It was a journey that has voyaged across 3 continents, 2 oceans and 17 countries. Experience the adventure of tackling a hurricane in a rowboat, cycling across vast continents and trekking through the world’s coldest inhabited place.

Using film and photographs, Colin will take you around the world at the speed of human power – a 2 year-expedition packed into an evening. Hear too about his previous journey to conquer the entire 7,000 kilometre Amazon River. Having dodged bullets, run class V whitewater, and spent months living day and night in the confines of a thirteen-foot whitewater raft, Angus and his comrades learned what true teamwork was all about.

As a young man, Colin Angus learned what setting and reaching one's goals is all about. After announcing his plans as a teenager of buying a sailboat and sailing it across the ocean solo, focus was necessary to make his dreams a reality. Angus has written articles for Cruising World, The Globe and Mail and The Comox Valley Free Press.

Colin completed his most recent expedition Rowed Trip in September 2008. Colin and his wife Julie completed a 7 month, 7,000 km journey from the northern tip of Scotland to the heart of Syria using exclusively human-powered amphibious rowboats.
