The Corporate Olympian
In this presentation Dr.
Greg Wells shows the audience how the science behind world-class
athletes can improve the performance and health of people in the
business world. Olympic athletes train and compete at the highest levels
on a consistent basis over many years. They face the pressures and
stresses of setbacks, change, travel, competition, and performance on
demand, and still find a way to excel. These are the same challenges
that are faced by business people, and the tools and techniques that
Olympians use can be applied by anyone at any time to ensure success.
Living a World-Class Life
In this high-content
and inspiring keynote presentation by Dr. Greg Wells, participants will
learn the strategies that elite performers use to lead a world class
life. Drawing on his experiences at the Olympic Games and from his own
adventures cycling 8000km across Africa, running marathons 600km north
of the Arctic circle, and recovering from a broken neck and
neurosurgery, Dr. Wells highlights the best-practices that everyone can
use to achieve their dreams.
The Science of Extreme Human Physiology
Dr. Wells examines the keys to optimal preparation, performance and recovery.
Leadership & High Performers
High performers
in business know how to turn it on and keep their focus no matter the
situation. Wells explains top tips to make your goals happen when you
need it most.
"If you look at the human body from the outside it's amazing, but if you understand it from the inside it's absolutely mind-blowing." Dr. Greg Wells
Greg Wells, Ph.D. is a physiologist who specializes in health and performance in extreme conditions. His work is focused on elite athletes who are trying to achieve international medal performances, and on children with chronic diseases. He's the face millions tuned in to during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics with his CTV coverage of the Superbodies segments, where he delved into the workings of the human mind and body in extreme situations. Dr. Wells even won Best Sports Analysis or Commentary for his Superbodies segments at the 2010 Gemini Awards.
Wells is a physiological scientist who works with elite athletes and kids suffering with chronic diseases at Toronto General Hospital and the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. With an additional specialty as an exercise physiologist with Canadian Olympians, Wells' distinct and fascinating approach to how humans can better manage their mind and body to peak performance brings a 'CSI approach to storytelling'. Whether you're pushing your body to the limit as with elite sport, or your body is pushing you to the limit with disease, Wells' research contends that our body reacts in similar ways, and we can learn from both experiences to help the other.
Wells' expertise is in helping audience members understand the mind/body connection and how to master our responses to challenging situations. He helps audiences realize the value of building your experience so that you can focus when you need it - in time for an important business presentation, to deal with a major personal stress in life, or to better manage the tasks that need to be accomplished in the everyday.
Dr. Wells is currently working as an exercise physiologist and sport scientist to enhance performance in international level athletes. He has had the opportunity to work with dozens of athletes who have won medals at World Championships and the Olympic Games.
Wells also believes that to truly understand extreme conditions you should experience them yourself. To this end Dr. Wells continues to build on his experiences as a former international level competitive swimmer, as a marathon runner (having twice completed the world's toughest marathon 600 miles north of the arctic circle), and recently completed 11,000 km in the Tour D'Afrique bike race - the longest bike race in the world.
