Engage Speaker Talks Toronto
A new home in Toronto played a big part in our new feel at Engage 2014. The Bram & Bluma Appel Salon at Toronto Reference Library was the perfect setting for a morning of inspiring, insightful and engaging presentations.
Tim Magwood set the tone by getting us up out of our seats with a little musical warm up. Host Jessi Cruickshank then brought the laughs in talking about her role as the new host of CBC’s hit show Canada’s Smartest Person. Next up, Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneur (two years running) Kelsey Ramsden brought us all into the barefoot boardroom by kicking off her shoes and delivering the first presentation of the day. Tod Maffin followed with a highly entertaining look at how humanity and technology coexist within organizations. After a quick break, Dave Meslin wow’d the crowd with his unassuming presence and sense of humour layout out the groundwork for understanding community activism and what civic engagement really means. Our first ever Mental Health Panel – Mark Henick, Rona Maynard, Ann Dowsett Johnston and Paula Todd – delivered moving insight to an often overlooked topic that affects us all in and our of the workforce. To top it all off, Olympic Gold Medallist Jennifer Jones inspired us all with her discussion on The Fire Within her team on their gold medal journey.

Engage Speaker Talks Vancouver
We held our Vancouver event at the beautiful Vancity Theatre and it proved (once again) to be the perfect home for NSBest. Wade Davis started the morning off with incredible visuals. He took us around the world through striking images of various cultures and discussed their place in today’s society. Host Doug Keeley kept the energy high with inspirational interstitial stories of leadership and perspective, with some musical magic courtesy of his guitar. Kelsey Ramsden once again kicked off her shoes before taking a look at the difference between being successful and feeling successful. John DeHart spoke of his Nurse Next Door business success by looking at the importance of having and living your authentic core values. Once again our audience found Tod Maffin‘s stories about technology interfacing with humanity both hilarious and engaging. To finish the day off, the always inspiring Amanda Lindhout shared her gripping story of compassion and forgiveness in the face of incredible adversity.
